The Thermals premiered new single “My Heart Went Cold,” the second off their forthcoming album We Disappear, this morning via The AV Club and the track – deemed “a celebration for spurned lovers everywhere” – can also now be streamed and shared via YouTube: https://youtu.be/MSXdMouYMUs. The Portland, OR-based trio have launched a contest in advance of the single’s release, offering a prize pack that includes a We Disappear LP, T-shirt, button pack, and stickers for the fan who posts their ‘Worst Valentine’s Day Story’ on the band’s Facebook page HERE. We Disappear will be released on March 25th, 2016 via Saddle Creek and is available in multiple formats for pre-order via the label’s webstore.

Following the band’s current quick run of northwestern dates that includes a stop at this year’s Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco on February 25th, The Thermals will head out on a full U.S. tour in April and May. The dates begin on April 16th in Spokane, WA and wrap up on May 8th in Salt Lake City, UT, and include two New York shows: April 24th at the Bowery Ballroom and an intimate show on April 28th at recently re-opened Market Hotel in Brooklyn. A current itinerary is below.

We Disappear was produced by Chris Walla (formerly of Death Cab For Cutie) and recorded in Portland at Kung Fu Bakery (The Shins, Tegan and Sara) and in Seattle, WA at The Hall of Justice (Nirvana, Mudhoney). The album is dark and deeply personal, examining technology, love, and death throughout: how separation in humanity can come through any of these avenues; how people try to outrun the demise of lives and relationships; how technology can isolate us and impact our relationships even as we completely – and willingly – assimilate ourselves into it; and how we’ve begun to forego privacy for a feeling of immortality in order to not be ignored or forgotten.
